Pitt AD hires Aaron Donald, Jeff Capel to athletic advisory board

Football, basketball coaches among four new committee members

University of Pittsburgh athletic director Heather Lyke has added four new members to her advisory committee, including football coach Pat Narduzzi, men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Donald.

Committee will provide input on a wide range of topics

The advisory committee provides input on a wide range of topics, including the department’s strategic plan, budget, and personnel decisions. The committee also serves as a sounding board for Lyke and her staff.

Narduzzi and Capel are both first-time members of the committee. Donald and former Pitt football player Chris Peak are also new to the committee.

Donald, who played at Pitt from 2010-2013, is one of the most decorated players in school history. He was a two-time consensus All-American and won the Outland Trophy in 2013. He was also a member of the 2013 BCS National Championship team.

Capel is in his fourth season as Pitt’s head coach. He has led the Panthers to two NCAA Tournament appearances in his first three seasons.

Narduzzi is in his eighth season as Pitt’s head coach. He has led the Panthers to six bowl games in his first seven seasons.

Peak is a former Pitt football player who played from 2002-2005. He was a two-time All-Big East selection and played in the NFL for six seasons.

The advisory committee is a valuable resource for me and my staff,” Lyke said in a statement. “I am confident that these four new members will make significant contributions to our department.”
